The Akron Aeros, a Double A affiliate of Cleveland, play at Canal Park, seating 9,447. An old semi-restored canal is just outside the right field fence. This is another newer park, built in 1997, that is very fan friendly. There are seats within the foul poles and bleachers without backs in right field. In centerfield there is a private party area. In the rightfield corner on the second level is a Menches Brothers Restaurant. The Menches Brothers were the inventors of the hamburger (according to them). The Aeros were playing the Bowie Baysox and were beaten 7-5. The box score was Baysox R-7, H-16, E-1 and Aeros R-5, H-11, E-1. The Aeros started off slowly, made it exciting in the 8th inning, but couldn't catch up. The field lines are RF-337', CF-400', LC-376', and LF-331'. There is a corner on the right side of center field caused by an adjacent building. The bullpens are in right center with the home team in front of the visiting team. Orbit is the mascot. The little children who normally are very hesitant about approaching the mascots love him. "Batman" serves the visiting team and is quite a character. We noticed that the Baysox have iron-on names on their visiting uniforms. We would like to thank Kim Usselman-Fogel of the Aeros for the complimentary tickets. Goodyear World of Rubber is a museum depicting the history of rubber. Exhibits include a replica of a rubber plantation, displays of tires, memorabilia of Charles Goodyear and a reproduction of his workshop. Free

National Inventors Hall of Fame has hands-on exhibits that allow visitors to play a harp with light beams, take gadgets apart, experiment with science and create their own inventions.
