The Erie SeaWolves, a Double A affiliate of Detroit, play at Jerry Uht Park. It was built in 1995, seating 6,000, and was financed mainly by Mr. Uht. It has seats in the area below the aisle and the two permanent sections above the aisle. The first base section is built over a concession area and is above and behind the lower seats. Access is via steps behind the seating. There are bleacher sections, without backs, down both baselines. The park is located between the street and a ice-hockey arena in left field which causes the interesting seating on first base and a short left field. The SeaWolves were playing the Akron Aeros and lost 5-2. The box score was Aeros R-5, H-7, E-1 and SeaWolves R-2, H-6, E-1. The Aeros scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and the SeaWolves could not overcome the lead. The field lines are RF-328', RC-367', CF-400', LC-350', and LF-312'. The SeaWolf is the mascot and is the first mascot we have seen who talks to the fans. They play a wolf howling to get the crowd involved in the game. This was Jimmy Buffet night. There was a band playing before and after the game. The staff was wearing Hawaiian shirts and outfits and Corona beer was $1.50. The broadcast booth and several suites are located behind the third base seating. A new between inning activity was the Toilet Bowl Hoop Shoot. Two teams compete with each player sitting on a toilet. One player attempts to shoot small basket-balls into a small basket worn on the head of the other player. We sat on the 3rd base side near the back to be in the shade. Erie Maritime Museum Homeport US Brig Niagara presents regional maritime history with emphasis on the War of 1812. A reconstruction of the Niagara, Oliver Hazard Perry's relief flagship at the Battle of Lake Erie can be seen. Fee.
