The New Britain Rock Cats, a Double A affiliate of Minnesota, play in New Britain Stadium which was built in 1996, seating6.146. This stadium is adjacent to the old stadium, which is still used by local youth baseball teams. This is a nice stadium with the concession areas located under the seating areas in a wide bright corridor. There is a deck above the 3rd base seating that has a grill area. Tonight they were celebrating the "Dog Days of Summer". You could win special prizes if your hot dog had a special wrapper. Three of the ushers were wearing special hats to celebrate the night. The Rock Cats were playing the Binghamton Mets and were successful winning 6-5. The box score was Mets R-5, H-10, E-2 and Rock Cats R-6, H-9, E-0. The field lines are RF & LF-330' and CF-400'. Rocky is the mascot. We saw a couple of new(to us) between inning activities. They had musical toilets while playing the song "Johnny B. Good". There was a race that had the contestants wearing giant B&M Baked Bean cans. They have some type of promotion at each game. Attendance was 4,289 fans. New Logo 2007. 2016 team moves to New Hartford and changes name to Yard Goats. In 2016 New Britain Bees, Atlantic Independent League move into stadium replacing the Yard Goats. |
