The Norwich Navigators, a Double A affiliate of San Francisco, play in Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Senator Dodd was a Norwich boy who dedicated his life to the service of his country as an FBI agent, executive trial counsel at the WWII Nuremburg trials, U. S. Congressman and U. S. Senator. This stadium was built in 1995, seating 6,270, and is similar to other stadiums we have seen. The seating is all below concourse level where the concession stands and broadcast booth are located. There are suites above the concourse. Nice night for baseball with the temperatures in the mid-70s. The Gators were playing the Altoona Curve and won a shut-out 6-0. The box score was Curve R-0, H-6, E-2 and Gators R-6, H-15, E-1. Noah Lowry, the Gator starter, pitched 6 innings of shut-out and the next pitcher closed it out. The field lines are RF-309', CF-401', and LF-309'. Tonight was $1 night for reserved seat tickets, hot dogs, pizza, and sodas. What a deal--a game and a meal for $3. Attendance was 3,520. Tater the Gator is the mascot. Great variety of food available at the food stands. Now known at the Connecticut Defenders with new Logo. 2010 team moves to Richmond, VA and become the Flying Squirrels. In 2010 the Oneonta Tigers, Single A New York-Penn League, moved to Norwich as the Connecticut Tigers. 2019 name changed to Norwich Sea Unicorns. 2021--No team at this location.
