The Greenville Braves, a Double A affiliate of Atlanta, play in Greenville Municipal Stadium. The stadium was opened in 1984 when the team was plucked from Savannah, according to the 20th anniversary commemorative yearbook. Tonight was Little League night and all of the younger Simpsonville (a town south of Greenville) Little League teams were represented. All the teams paraded around the field from the 1st base line to home and out the 3rd base line. Each team was announced as it passed home. On the field for the national anthem with the players were boys from T-Ball Bears and girls from softball Sting. The Braves were playing the Mobile Bay Bears and broke their 3 game losing streak winning 5-1. The Braves starter pitched a one hitter for 7 innnings. The box score was Bay Bears R-1, H-1, E-1 and the Braves R-5, H-8, E-0. The field lines are RF-335', CF-405', and LF-335'. There were 5,188 in attendance at the field which seats around 8,000. The mascots are Tommy Hawk and Dingbat. Note the ticket booths outside the stadium. If you want Reserved tickets you go to the right hand ticket booth, then to the left window for 1st base side seats and the right window for 3rd base side seats. If you want General Admission tickets you go to the left hand ticket booth and then the appropriate windows for the side of the field you want. In 2005 the team moved to Pearl, Mississippi (just east of Jackson) and became the Mississippi Braves. The Columbia, SC Bombers of the South Atlantic League moved to Greenville, SC and became the Greenville Drive, Single A, South Atlantic League. 2013--Mississippi Braves affiliated with Atlanta.
